Fifteen limestone ossuaries were found in 1968 in three burial caves at Giveat ha-Mivtar, Jerusalem (see above, pp. 18-32). Thirteen were filled to the brim with human skeletal remains, and two only partly so. It was ascertained that these remains had been arranged within the ossuaries in a particular and set order. The anthropo logical study attests the presence of 35 individuals. Almost all the skeletal remains found were well preserved; a few insignificant animal skeletal elements were intrusive (PL 18: A).
