### Abstract
```
Interviewed 15 men and 35 women who were aged 7–76 yrs at the time of their near death experience (NDE). The number of years since their experience ranged from 2 to 52. Ss were no more religious or spiritually inclined than the general Australian population before the NDE. Following the NDE, there was a significant shift toward spirituality. Over 75% of the Ss said that they had a fear of death before the NDE, whereas no S had a fear of death after the NDE. Data also show a change in attitudes toward suicide, with Ss being opposed to suicide after the NDE. The most significant changes resulting from the NDE were reported to be spiritual growth, a loving attitude, knowledge of God, and inner peace.
