One alternate explanation for the Resurrection of Jesus was that He managed to survive on the cross and never died. This theory says that He only **appeared** to be dead and simply walked/was taken out of His tomb after being attended to by his disciples. This is one of the weakest theories against the Christianity conclusion that Jesus was God. ### It is already historical fact that Jesus was killed on the Cross ![[Did Jesus Survive The Cross]] # Even if He survived the cross, He would have died in the tomb. Even if Jesus somehow didn't die upon the cross, His body was buried in a sealed, guarded tomb to prevent escaping. ### The Stone At The Tomb ![[The Stone At The Tomb]] ### The Guards At The Tomb ![[The Guards At The Tomb]] Even if He had help, His condition post-Crucifixion would have killed him very soon, much less able to move 2-ton stones and get past any guards. The theory that Jesus survived the Crucifixion and only appeared to be dead, later walking out of His tomb, is deemed one of the weakest counterarguments against the Christian belief of His divine Resurrection. It's widely accepted as historical fact that Jesus was killed on the Cross. Moreover, even if He had survived the Crucifixion, He would have likely died in the sealed, guarded tomb where His body was placed, given His severe post-Crucifixion condition. Furthermore, the narrative fails to account for the rise of Christianity and the transformative effect on His disciples following His Resurrection appearances, a nearly dead and unrecognizable Messiah would not have triggered such a profound religious movement.
